NYOF operates as a U.S. tax-exempt public charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to NYOF are tax-deductible under U.S. law.

NYOF is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, eight highly committed individuals who are very active in the organization. Most have been to Nepal several times. The NYOF USA office is headed by Olga Murray (NYOF's full-time, pro-bono president and founder), who is supported by Janis Olson, NYOF's Executive Director/U.S., part-time staff, consultants, and volunteers. NYOF’s donors are an integral part of our organization; they provide not only financial support, but advice and help with fundraising as well.

NYOF was re-accredited through Nepal's Social Welfare Council, which holds agreements with all International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) working in Nepal. This process is required at least every five years. Four specialists investigated every aspect of NYOF's operations in Nepal for a month. NYOF not only passed with flying colors, but received many commendations.
Charity-Navigator-Four-Star-FourNYOF’s good governance has been recognized by Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent evaluator of charities, which has granted NYOF a four-star rating, the highest possible, for effective and efficient administration of the funds which you, our donors, contribute. Thank you again for putting your trust in us.

Like most other programs providing social services in Nepal, NYOF operates under an agreement with the Social Welfare Council in Kathmandu.

NYOF's operations in Nepal are overseen by Som Paneru, Executive Director/Nepal. Som is one of the young men who completed college on one of NYOF's earliest scholarships.
