Under Nepali law, non-governmental organizations like NYOF operate under an agreement with an agency of the Nepalese government called the Social Welfare Council. The rules of the Council provide that organizations like ours must work with a counterpart Nepalese non-governmental organization, which must implement NYOFs programs. NYOF's main counterpart is Friends of Needy Children (FNC). NYOF provides strong oversight of its partners' implementation activities through its Country Office. The employees of the office include an Executive Director, Program Manager, Finance Controller, Nutrition Coordinator and a handful of others. NYOF employees, like those of our counterparts, are devoted to helping children and are passionate about their mission.
FNC's address is P.O. Box 10012, Kathmandu, Nepal

Both NYOF and FNC have superb Nepali staff who are devoted to helping children and are passionate about social service. Here are just a few members of the staff of both organizations.
Som Paneru, NYOF's Executive Director in Kathmandu, knows non-profit management, NYOF, the Nepalese education system, and the world of Nepalese children from the inside out. He completed college under NYOF's auspices and then taught science and math in various schools.
He joined NYOF's staff in 1995.
In 2002, Som won
a British Chevening scholarship
for a Master's program in international child welfare at the
University of East Anglia
in
Norwich, England.
Upon completing his degree, he has returned to NYOF and
Nepal
with even more energy and ideas.
Som is a gifted administrator—able, organized, and imaginative—and profoundly committed to helping the children of Nepal. NYOF feels very fortunate to have him leading our office in Nepal.
Mansa Bhatterai, the former Manager of the Kathmandu NRH, is now employed by NYOF as a coordinator of the six NRHs. Sunita Rimal has replaced her as Manager of the Kathmandu NRH.

Sujit Wasti, NYOF’s Controller, prepares the organization’s financial statements and reports, oversees financial compliance by FNC and NYOF’s other partners in Nepal, and trains the partner organizations in fund management and reporting. He has a Masters degree in business studies and over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting.

Manoj Silwal is NYOF's Program Director. He oversees the organization's projects throughout Nepal, maintains relationships with local partner organizations, and investigates potential new programs.

Runjin Nepali has been NYOF's faithful driver for many years, taking staff, children, and sometimes visiting board members where they need to go. That is no small feat in
Kathmandu
, where the roads are labyrinthine and the traffic chaotic. He navigates with safety, courtesy, and knowledge.
Friends of Needy Children (FNC)
NYOF's main counterpart organization is Friends of Needy Children (FNC) - www.fncnepal.org. It has a large staff and a committed board.
Man Bahadur Chhetri oversees the Indentured Daughters Program. He grew up in Western Nepal, where the program takes place, and has a deep understanding of the local culture. His commitment to eradicating the bonding of children from Nepal, along with enabling rural families to support themselves, has been essential to the success of the program. Man recently won the extremely prestigious Ashoka Fellowship as recognition of his social entrepreneurship and his commitment to bold new ideas.
