Can you donate an old camera or laptop?

NYOF’s Nutritional Rehabilitation Homes (NRHs) restore severely malnourished children to health and teach their parents about nutrition and child care. Field workers make three follow-up visits to every child treated at an NRH, often walking for days through rural Nepal. They need digital cameras to photograph the children so that NRH doctors and nurses can look at the photos to ensure the kids are maintaining their health.

Nepal is suffering from around 16 hours per day of power outages. Donations of laptops that can run on battery power for an hour or two during power outages will make it much easier for NRH nurses to record information about children’s health and feeding.

Additionally, if you are willing to donate a projector that can be connected to a computer or a scanner, it would be greatly appreciated. These contributions allow us to use as much money as possible to rescue children in Nepal. Please email us at info@nyof.org if you can make a contribution!

Laxmi in her wheelchair

The story of Laxmi, a beneficiary of NYOF's disabled scholarship program

My name is Laxmi Kunwar. I am seventeen years old and I am studying in grade nine in Kathmandu. I was not born disabled. Two years ago, in my village, I fell from a tree when I was collecting fodder for the cattle. My spinal cord was badly injured, and even after surgery, I am still paralyzed below the waist. I came to Kathmandu to undergo a lot of physiotherapy, and now I can move around in a wheelchair, but I can’t stand on my feet. I was the best student in my class, and I had a lot of dreams for my future career. Because of the accident, my dreams were ruined. My father sold almost all of our family’s property to pay for my treatment, and now we only have a few cattle, a small house, and a small piece of land.

I was searching for an opportunity to continue my studies, and fortunately, I got a scholarship from NYOF. My happiness crossed all boundaries when I learned that NYOF would support my education. I will utilize this support for my study as well as I possibly can. I want to thank NYOF for this support.

Meet more children whose lives have been transformed by NYOF

Make a donation to help the most vulnerable children in Nepal!

A gift of $300 will provide school fees, housing, and all other expenses for a disabled student like Laxmi to attend a special school that can provide for her needs for one year.

It only costs $100 to save a Nepali girl from a childhood spent in virtual slavery and enable her to return to her family and attend school for a year. A $350 donation will rescue her and support her education through her high school graduation.

You can donate online with a credit card, by mailing us a check or credit card information, or by giving stocks and securities. Please consider making recurring monthly credit card donations, which are safe, hassle-free, and provide NYOF with a consistent source of funding; just let us know in the comments box when you donate online.
