Constructing a three-room school in Nepal People who live in and around Dalsinghe village had no school for young children, despite the fact that this area is only 18 km (11 miles) southeast of the popular resort town of Dhulikhel, which is only 30 km (18 miles) from Kathmandu. The local "school" was merely a temporary room on loan from a women's group. In the summer of 2008, a new organization called One Dollar For Life (ODFL) brought a group of 14 dedicated American students to Nepal to build a school. The students all paid their own way. The group has completed construction of the new Janta Primary School in Dalsinghe village. 84 kindergarten and first-grade children now attend the school, which has three classrooms, toilets, and a playground. The school serves 8 villages in the area. The Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation forged the connection between ODFL and the people of Dalsinghe, and facilitated communication between the organization and the villagers to help this project succeed.
